Staff Engineer
GRID Networks is looking for a highly skilled Staff Engineer to lead and support the design, implementation, and maintenance of our hybrid infrastructure across on-premise datacenters and cloud platforms. This is a hands-on technical leadership role that combines deep subject matter expertise with mentorship and strategic influence.
You’ll work closely with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our infrastructure is secure, scalable, and reliable.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain hybrid infrastructure solutions (on-prem and cloud).
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
Define and enforce best practices in networking, systems administration, and automation.
Lead system architecture decisions and evaluate new technologies.
Author and present technical reports, documentation, and briefings for stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, including 3+ years in a senior or staff-level role.
Extensive experience across all phases of complex, integrated system development.
Proven ability to lead technical teams and contribute to high-impact architectural decisions.
Deep expertise in Cisco and Juniper networking (routing protocols, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, firewalls).
Strong background in infrastructure automation (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
Demonstrated success mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm) in hybrid environments.
Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, etc.).
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
Experience with OpenBSD.
Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, RHCE, AWS Solutions Architect).
Experience communicating complex technical topics to senior leadership.
